From this photo it can be seen how we use materials to create a living breathing shell of both lightness and strength. Q. Why? Because Granada experiences cold winters and hot summers. Thus, heat is contained within in winter and the houses are cool in summer. Internal Damp Course

The Ruin Before

 

 

 

  1. Using the latest honeycomb interlocking engineering building blocks we first build the interior wall.  Notice the internal damp course.  Block size 25 centimetres.

 

During Reform
  1. Once the First Floor Level is up (as in the above photo) we move to the outside and build the exterior brick wall.
  1. A gap of 7 centimetres is filled with insulation material and attached to the engineering block.
  2. After a course of exterior bricks are laid of 10 centimetres.
  3. An external damp course is laid
Now the outside/exterior skin is built up to the same first floor level of the interior wall with insulation being added all the way upwards.

  1. This exterior wall can be firstly rendered with sand and cement then with white water proof cement, as sown above, then painted with two coats of high quality exterior paint or if required clad with selected stone slabs for zero maintenance.
  1. The interior wall are then plastered with high quality hardwearing "perlita" (Not soft traditional yeso). Afterwards high quality emulsion paints create a washable skin that is durable and does not yellow.

 

Thus the combined wall thickness when finished is more than half a metre!
